Bio

Nishtha Dua is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2019 and holds a BA in Fashion Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and a MA in Design Space from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. Nishtha is currently working as an Independent Designer at Pulseatpink.

“I am passionate about slow fashion and lowering the negative environmental impact of the fashion industry. For my collection I felt strongly about sourcing damaged materials which would otherwise be sent to landfills, such as peeling faux leather jackets which I embellish”. - Nishtha Dua

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award collection, ‘Strike Twelve’ Nishtha was inspired by the transformation of Cinderella from riches back to rags at the turn of midnight, deconstructing the idea of the seemingly perfect and highlighting her beautiful flaws. Nishtha applies reconstruction to a wide range of textile waste including sampling yardage, cut-and-sew waste, textile swatches, damaged textiles and secondhand clothing.
