ANDRA NISTOR

Redress Design Award 2021 Semi-FINALIST

Bio

Andra is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2021. She holds a BA and MA Fashion Design from Nottingham Trent University, UK.

As an aspiring designer and environmentalist, I believe it is my duty to question the current situation in the fashion industry and to research better, cleaner and less harmful ways of doing fashion design. To me, sustainable fashion means creating quality items that the wearer will want to hold on to for forever.” - Andra Nistor

redress Design Award Collection

Andra’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘A.S.A.P’, draws visual inspiration from the vibrant colours of animals and their environment, and builds on the World Wildlife Fund’s 2008 campaign, ‘Population by Pixel’, through the inclusion of her own paintings of endangered species, pixilated and layered to form striking prints. Designing for durability and functionality, Andra applies the zero-waste pattern technique to mono-fibre recycled fabrics and upcycled industry surplus.
