PAULA KEILHOLZ

Redress Design Award 2021 Semi-FINALIST

Bio

Paula is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2021. She holds a BA in Fashion Design from University of the Arts Berlin, Germany and is currently a freelance designer developing her own brand.

“Through my work I want to prove that luxury fashion can be sustainable. Luxury defines what we consider desirable, and I want to change perceptions and show that it is desirable to take care of our world and consider the social impact of clothing.” - Paula Keilholz

redress Design Award Collection

Paula’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Wildchild’, draws inspiration from both the elaborate military clothing worn by the Landsknecht - mercenaries of the 15th century, and the contemporary functional military apparel trend dubbed ‘Warcore’. Paula upcycles damaged natural fabrics and leather waste, along with recycled nylon focusing on mono-fibres with end-of-life processing in mind. She puts a large emphasis on communication through labelling to help increase the active life of the garment.
