Hugo Dumas is a Rising Talent of the Redress Design Award 2023. He is studying at Métiers de la Mode, ECAMOD, France.

For the Redress Design Award, Hugo’s collection concept, ‘Ripped Tailoring’, was inspired by a passion for craftsmanship and errors. Hugo envisions quilting fabric scraps from diverse sources into a recyclable, durable, and natural fabric such as cotton denim,  adding intentional rips to show the scrap waste underneath — as not only an aesthetic decision but also a statement on the industry’s overproduction and overconsumption.  The quilting also provides better thermal insulation than plain denim, without any chemical treatments.
