Sustainable Fashion Academy

We're feeling absolutely inspired about future of the fashion industry after spending time with emerging designers in Hong Kong, China, India and UK over the past few months at our Sustainable Fashion Academies. We have been spreading the word about the positive power of fashion and introducing emerging designers to sustainable fashion design including theory and practical exercises on the techniques of zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction to help them further their design skills and learning from them just as much. One of our favourite moments was when Huddersfield lecturer Jade Whitson-Smith and EcoChic Design Award alumni Amy Ward showed us the limitless possibilities of up-cycling, featuring the different techniques of patching, darning, sashiko and even tufting!

These events were made even stronger through the voices of our EcoChic Desgin Award alumni Angus Tsui, Tsang Fan Yu, Natalie Wong and Amy Ward along with select other speakers Toby Lam of Lastbutnotleast, Winsome Lok, Suket Dhir, Amit Aggarwal, Dr. Alana James, Sara Han, Dr. Alison Gwilt, Cecile Martin, Perry Wong, Sherry Poon of Wobabybasics and Tony Yeung of Mecilla. Also, a big thank you to D2 Place, Ek Bar, Sheffield Hallam University and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts - School of Innovation Design for hosting us!
