First Prize

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2019 WITH REVERB (JNBY GROUP)

You will join a team of fashion leaders to assist in creating a contemporary, sustainable collection with REVERB, a subsidy brand under the JNBY Group, which will retail in different JNBY Group stores around the world and through online outlets.

Carefully crafted with respect for planet and people, REVERB aims to inspire its customers to explore the future of fashion.

You will work with a REVERB design team in the culturally rich city of Hangzhou, China, for up to three months. You will gain experience in fabric sourcing, work on design and product development, learn about production methods, and understand more about all aspects of building a collection. You will also receive mentorship from top experts in fashion, business and sustainability.

The Redress Design Award 2019 Mentorship with Orsola de Castro

You will receive a tailored mentorship with distinguished sustainable fashion designer and competition judge, Orsola de Castro. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in sustainable fashion, Orsola has nurtured many of the pioneering names in sustainable fashion from their early designs through to their established brands. This mentorship opportunity will give you expert and targeted support, which will be provided to you wherever you are in the world through video calls and by email over a six-month period. This will propel your career in sustainable fashion design forwards and prepare you, your visions and your collections for the competitive market of attracting fashion buyers and media – and ultimately securing success.

People's Choice

After impressing the global public with your designs in an online vote to outshine your 29 semi-finalist competitors, you will be promoted across Redress’ social networks along with your accolade of People’s Choice, and will receive:

Hong Kong Best Prize

Hong Kong's highest scoring designer will receive:

  • The accolade of Hong Kong best

  • A place in the Grand Final

Hong Kong Best Runner-up

Hong Kong's second highest scoring designer will receive :

Made for Change Challenge winners with VF Corporation

A team of two finalists has the chance to win a tailor-made mentorship programme by VF Corporation experts and an education cash prize of US$1,000 for each of them. During an educational design day, the finalists are challenged to work on the sustainability of some iconic products from the VF brands portfolio and have the chance to gain direct insights from VF's experts.

  • Have their designs shot in Hong Kong by a renowned photographer and styled by an influential stylist

  • Have designs showcased under the international public’s spotlight in an exhibition after the grand final concludes

Each cycle of the Redress Design Award we continue to support our alumni, our previous semi-final and final competitors, with prizes through partnerships with like-minded organisations to enhance their careers in sustainable fashion.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2019 ALUMNI PRIZES WITH VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK AND MERCEDES-BENZ

Two alumni prize winners will receive the opportunity to showcase their sustainable fashion designs on the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week, the second largest fashion week in North America. The winner for the Fall/Winter 2020 show in October will also receive a paid trip to to attend the show in Canada by the courtesy of Mercedes-Benz. This opportunity will bring greater exposure to the winner reaching an international fashion audience, including buyers, media and influencers.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2019 ALUMNI PRIZE WITH CO (COMMON OBJECTIVE)

This alumni prize winner will receive a 12 month Showcase membership to the CO platform which supports the fashion industry to do business better. Through CO, the winner will have the benefit of a premium business profile, enabling them to showcase their work and make industry connections that will help them to grow their business, as well as access premium intelligence and learning.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2019 ALUMNI PRIZE WITH NOT JUST A LABEL

Six alumni prize winners will receive 6-month NJAL+ memberships on the designer platform NJAL which showcases and supports designers in contemporary fashion. The winners will be able to connect their personal online stores with the platform to further drive sales for their brands. The designers can enable further branding opportunities, receive exclusive access to events and collaboration opportunities and discounts to further boost the their careers in the fashion industry.
