Elin Thomas

Redress Design Award 2020 Semi-FINALIST

Bio

Elin Thomas is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020. She holds a BA (Hons) in Fashion Textiles and Design at Middlesex University, UK, and founded her own brand, Elin Manon, in 2018.

“Today, our throw-away society has taken the meaning away from the things we own. Sustainable designers need to be able to keep up with other fashion designers in order to create real change so that we value our clothes again. I want my clothes to reach out to people through their character, stories and tactile experience”. -Elin Thomas

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award 2020 collection, Habitat, Elin was inspired by traditional Welsh textiles, particularly quilts and tapestries which hold symbols of habitat, home and belonging. Focusing on craftsmanship, she will repurpose surplus deadstock through patching, weaving and knit to create fully fashioned garments. Erin is also up-cycling surplus vintage and army textiles. Her aim is for her collection to be taken apart and re-knitted at the end of its life.
