Reaching the semi-finals of the Redress Design Award 2020, Kazef was awarded theHong Kong Best Runner-up Prize, with him bringing one of his competition designs to life to join the 10 finalists in the Hong Kong exhibition in late 2020. Kazef holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Styling and Design Communication from Shih Chien University in Taiwan. He previously worked as a fashion design assistant at JUST IN XX.

“Every industry has the responsibility to protect the environment, but  learning that many pollutants are generated by the fashion industry, I realise this is a critical issue. As a stakeholder and designer in this industry I have a responsibility to take part in changing it”. - Kazef Tang

redress Design Award Collection

For his Redress Design Award collection Like Father, Like Son, Kazef reflects on his relationship with his father. He reconstructs old clothing from his father’s wardrobe, which - predominantly in blue and white - evokes images of melting glaciers. Kazef highlights this, adding patchwork and cut-outs to reflect the surface of glaciers and ice caves and applies hand-printing to create texture.
