Marie-Eve Aubry

Redress Design Award 2020 FINALIST

Bio

Marie-Eve Aubry is a finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and Management at École Supérieure de Mode de Montréal, Canada. She currently works as an Assistant Fashion Designer at Frank And Oak.

“The traditional linear fashion system is one  where garments are overproduced and often end up in landfills. The fashion industry needs to slow down and rethink the value chain from design to production. In an era where eco-anxiety rises and urges us to act fast to preserve the planet, as an emerging designer,  I have mandated myself to take responsibility by addressing climate change in my work”. - Marie-Eve Aubry

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award Collection, True Gen, Marie-Eve reflects on how alarming the environmental situation weighs on the shoulders of present and future generations, where younger people are increasingly searching for truth and authenticity. She applies up-cycling and reconstruction to a wide range of locally sourced textile waste including damaged textiles, end-of-rolls, textile swatches, clothing samples and secondhand clothing, and focuses on garment longevity through the use of durable materials, high-quality craftsmanship, a focus on fit and convertible designs.
