Beatrice Bocconi

Redress Design Award 2020 FINALIST

Bio

Beatrice Bocconi is a finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020. She is currently studying Fashion Design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Italy.

“The world is being flooded with trash and the fashion system is a large contributor to this. Sustainability to me means repairing, giving new life to forgotten textiles and creating something personal and handmade from them. I think it is the future of fashion and I aim to prove that through sustainability you can create even cooler apparel”. - Beatrice Bocconi

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award collection, Felt in the Streets, Beatrice aims to create functional yet sustainable workwear apparel with a handmade edge. She creates new textiles by up-cycling denim and canvas scraps through felting, patchwork and knit, and the use of natural dyes. Beatrice’s collection is designed to be worn cross-season with features  such as detachable sleeves, allowing the wearer to re-style them to avoid new purchases.
