The Customer Experience Challenge with Delta Global

Designing for circularity goes beyond the design of the garment itself. Through packaging and messaging, there is an opportunity to communicate and share your brand story to build your customers’ emotional attachment with your product and thereby encourage longevity of use. In partnership with leading sustainable packaging expert Delta Global, we challenged our Redress Design Award Finalists, joining forces with marketing and product design students, to inspire customers through fashion’s packaging.

When approaching your own project, follow the same three circular values to keep outfits in use, and loved, for longer:

DESIGN VALUE - does it…

  • Strive for zero-waste design in terms of material utilisation?

  • Showcase sustainability values?

  • Explore possibilities for circularity? Check if it can be recycled by your supplier.

  • Reduce traditional packaging waste streams?

PRODUCTION VALUE

  • Does it ensure materials are durable? Does the construction support longevity and multipurpose usage, e.g. strengthen any stress points?

  • Can it be replicated?

  • Is it commercially viable?

CONSUMER VALUE - does it…

  • Provide the opportunity to engage customers on the design journey and how design decisions were made in consideration of waste and circularity to create longevity?

  • Support customers on their garment care, for example storing, washing, and stain removal, to encourage longevity and to maintain the garment in its highest value?
