THE ECOCHIC DESIGN AWARD 2011 Hong Kong FINALIST

Bio

I am a part-time degree student of Fashion and Textiles at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I also work for a fashion trading company called Global Standard Enterprise as a fashion graphic designer. It is my pleasure to participate in this competition and to be a finalist. It was amazing to create a garment using the zero waste technique and a great opportunity for all of us to show our talent and concept of sustainable fashion.

ECOCHIC DESIGN AWARD COLLECTION

Product packaging plays an important part in the fashion industry. However, most of these beautiful wrappings usually end up in landfill. Their impact on the use of resources and pollution on earth cannot be underestimated. Therefore, the concept of the collection is "product package itself" which means products become part of the packaging. This reduces waste and achieves a sustainable fashion development.

In the creative process, I found it interesting that the words "Made in China" are found on the products of numerous famous brands. China plays an important role in the fashion industry and I believe sustainable fashion will become a key issue there. This is why I chose the name of the collection and why the design shows strong Chinese elements.
