Congratulations to Redress for successfully organising the Redress Design Award 2020 – the 10th cycle of the competition.

Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is delighted to be the lead sponsor of the competition since its first cycle. Over the past years, the Redress Design Award has established as a recognised brand in the sustainable fashion design community by educating emerging fashion designers about sustainable design theories and techniques in order to drive growth towards a circular fashion system.

Every year, hundreds of emerging fashion designers and fashion design students from different parts of the world participate in the project. The Redress Design Award Alumni Network now has over 180 alumni from more than 30 different regions around the world. Among them, more than 40 have established their sustainable brands, with some already enjoying international recognition for their work.

It is very encouraging for CreateHK, which is committed to nurturing talent and start-ups for creative industries, to see the achievements of the project and the project participants.

Success does not come easy, but with hard work and dedication. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Redress for their dedicated efforts in promoting sustainable fashion design. I understand that this cycle is particularly challenging for the Redress team as they had to adjust their plans repeatedly due to the various stages of pandemic impact. Many activities have had to go digital, including the kickoff educational and promotion activities, and the Grand Final Show itself. This however, also opens up some new approaches for Redress to connect with the project participants, alumni and more audiences from different parts of the world.

Last but not the least, I would like to congratulate all the awardees of the competition and wish all awardees a great success in their sustainable fashion career ahead.
