Wardrobes From Waste

As part of the Redress Design Award 2022 cycle media launch held at K11 Nature Discovery Park last week, we explored the value of circular design strategies that competition applicants must consider. Education Director, Morgane Parizot examined design for longevity, design for low waste and design for recyclability with an interactive audience poll to identify examples of good and bad design.

Simultaneously in London, Redress Founder Christina Dean put this knowledge into practice in a 20-minute challenge to source two outfits from the public’s unwanted clothing at the TRAID sorting warehouse. TRAID is an environmental charity working to stop clothes from being thrown away. They turn clothes waste into funds and resources to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of our clothes. Watch her challenge unfold here.

We were also joined at the event to celebrate the launch of the 12th cycle by Jersey Yuen, Assistant Head at Create HK and Marco Panvoncelli, Senior Director of Emerging Markets at Timberland who celebrated the launch of 2020 menswear winner Thu’s design collaboration for CNY 2022.
