Meet the Judges of the Redress Design Award 2022

With the Redress Design Award 2022 now closed for entries, we turn our attention to the next stage of the competition: the judging.

Selected from around the globe for their subject expertise, each year our judges look for standout applications demonstrating skills in creativity, sustainability, and marketability.

For the ten top talents who successfully make it through to the Finalist round in May, their next step will be to create finished physical garments for Grand Final judging. Our sustainable fashion experts will be able to touch, feel, and see the designers’ collections as they evaluate their workmanship.

This year’s judges are a who’s who of experts from various organisations that intersect with Redress’ mission for empowering sustainable fashion:

As the founding publisher of Vogue Hong Kong, Desiree Au brings deep knowledge of consumer appeal and marketability to the table.

Representing VF Corporation and Timberland, Sean Cady and Puneet Khosla will be looking for the most promising talent for the coveted Timberland design collaboration opportunity, awarded to the first prize winner.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in sustainable fashion, Orsola de Castro carries experience in upcycling and transparency advocacy, and will be offering a tailored mentorship to the runner-up.

As the CEO of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), Edwin Keh is an authority in textile innovation as well as supply chain operations.

Christophe Degoix will be looking for designs that account for sustainable manufacturing, an expertise he has built up as chief operating officer of TAL Apparel Ltd, which makes one out of every six shirts sold in the US.

And finally, Angus Tsui illustrates the positive impact of participating in the Redress Design Award: as the winner of the 2012 People’s Choice Award, he has gone on to develop his namesake sustainable fashion brand, supported by our community of experts along the way.
