Redress Design Award 2019 exhibition

ENTER THE CREATIVE WORLD OF CIRCULAR FASHION

The Redress Design Award is the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. In September, 10 emerging designers from around the world came to Hong Kong to showcase their collections, made with unwanted materials from worn wedding dresses and workers’ uniforms to bedsheets and sleeping bags, which were transformed into high fashion pieces.

Following the Grand Final show, the exhibition first took place at our hotel sponsor, Kerry Hotel, where guests could enjoy it for a week in the lobby area.

The Finalists’ garments were then displayed at renowned shopping mall and office building Hysan Place in Causeway Bay (Hong Kong). For this exhibition, we worked with specialised vendor Artech Graphics on an innovative, eco-friendly all-paper build. The zero-plastic production included FSC-mixed and FSC-recycled durable honeycomb board, a strong but 100% recyclable material and corrugated flute cardboard (also 100% recyclable). Printing was on FSC paper sticker, which reduces ink usage up to 30%, using ECOLOGO® environmentally certified water-based latex ink. All materials in the exhibition were either kept for re-use or collected by the vendor for recycling.

The exhibition will finally be shown at Fashion for Good in Amsterdam from December 2019 to January 2020, in partnership with UPS.

A selection of our finalists' creations were also displayed at Première Vision Paris (France) and the Autumn Edition: Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics customer event, courtesy of our partner Eastman Naia™.
