Redress Design Award 2018 FINALIST
Lynsey Gibson is a finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018 and holds a BA in Fashion Knitwear from University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins, UK. Lynsey currently works as a freelance knitwear designer.
In today's current climate, I believe there should only be the option of being a sustainable designer. I can no longer work in an industry that puts profit over the environment or consumption over humanitarian concern. Through my work I want to elevate the idea of sustainable design and to re-imagine what sustainability can look like through the manipulation of waste. - Lynsey Gibson
redress Design Award Collection
For her Redress Design Award submission, Lynsey draws inspiration from a variety of sources including the cultural differences of Europe and China, select artists and by the women who surround her. Up-cycling leftover and sample yarns along with secondhand and end-of-roll textiles, she combines labour heavy textile techniques with seamless knitwear innovation to manipulate discarded waste.
