2021 Winner Jessica Chang Collaborates with Timberland on ‘Year of the Rabbit’ Collection

In winning the Redress Design Award 2021, Jessica Chang earned the opportunity to collaborate with Timberland® on their Lunar New Year 2023 collection, which is now available for sale in select stores globally.

Jessica joined the Timberland® design team in China soon after her runway victory, working remotely with them for the exciting capsule collection grounded in sustainable design. During this process, she received valuable mentorship from VF Corporation’s Sustainability and Responsibility team.

“I learned that with Timberland’s farming methods, the soil is rich with nutrients even after tilling and harvest, benefitting animal life surrounding the ecosystem and the environment. This is bringing forth the most needed change in our supply chains,” shared Jessica in the Redress Design Award 2022 magazine in her interview about the collaboration.

Jessica’s two-in-one jacket design features a workwear-inspired inner jacket and an all-over printed vest. The pieces can be worn together or detached to mix and match with other parts, offering a versatile, all-gender design with longevity in mind for consumers. Her ‘Year of the Rabbit’ jacket features the comfort of organically grown cotton.

“Redress is galvanising the emerging designer sustainable design movement, creating change at the drawing board,” said Sean Cady, Vice President of Global Sustainability and Responsibility, VF Corporation, which owns Timberland. “Timberland’s recent collaboration with Jessica demonstrates how the competition is positively influencing what’s available for consumers.”
