Introducing the Redress Design Award All Stars

In celebration of the 10th cycle and to mark the ongoing outstanding sustainable achievements of our alumni, we proudly announce the Redress Design Award 2020 All Stars! These passionate fashion designers from across the world have been selected by our expert judges to benefit from exclusive career-boosting opportunities provided in partnership with sustainable marketplace Staiy and Galeries Lafayette Shanghai.

With Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as Lead Sponsor, the Redress Design Award provides emerging designers with the tools and techniques to help them navigate the circular fashion economy and capitalise on its potential. Over the last decade the programme has collected, and provided support to, over 200 alumni from 37 countries and regions whose creativity and conviction continue to drive transformation in the fashion industry. More than 50 alumni have established sustainable brands, with some already enjoying international recognition for their work.

Pat Guzik and Annaiss Yucra receive the All Star Prize – a retail partnership and significant marketing package with Staiy to launch their brand on the site. Chiara Latini, All Star judge and Founder and Product Manager at Staiy, said, “The disruption of the fashion industry starts with innovative thinkers. At Staiy, the designers of the future are given the spotlight they deserve, and enter a network of opportunities to grow their careers. The talent pool at Redress is outstanding, and we were impressed by the strong concepts and storytelling behind the alumni's crafts." Kévin Germanier and Jesse Lee will also receive a marketing package from Staiy.

All seven All Stars are now being showcased at Galeries Lafayette Shanghai, gaining valuable brand exposure within Mainland China’s fast-growing fashion market. The showcase forms part of the Galeries Lafayette’s ‘Fashioning The Change, Today and Tomorrow’ campaign that reflects a long-term commitment to pursue more sustainable retail. The Redress Design Award All Star showcase can be visited at Galeries Lafayette Shanghai, First Floor until 30 October 2020.

Pat Guzik, All Star and winner of the Redress Design Award 2015/16 shared with us, “Taking part in the Redress Design Award has been a life-changing experience, proving that us designers can really shape the future we want. I'm so proud to be a part of the Redress Alumni community. Redress supports us to exist in the fashion industry, and become important brands that can change reality. No one ever believed in me like Redress has, It has been very motivating and extremely important.”

The All Stars were selected by our  panel of industry experts with backgrounds ranging from supply chain management to scouting emerging talents, including Dio Kurazawa, Founding Partner, The Bear Scouts; Chiara Latini, Founder and Product Manager, Staiy; Sara Maino, Deputy Director, Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents; and Jules Sha, Owner, Jules Shah Ltd., Brand Strategist and Distribution, Greater China. The judges evaluated alumni collections based on commerciality, sustainability, creativity and originality and the All Star title was awarded to the five highest-achieving competition alumni, with two additional designers receiving a Rising Star award for showing great potential in the early stages of their careers.

The success of the All Star alumni underpins the progress and influence of the Redress Design Award.
