Aspiring Redress Design Award applicants benefit from free workshops and discussions

Redress hosted its first-ever Student Academy Week from 11 to 18 February featuring sustainable fashion industry leaders, competition alumni and interactive workshops. Held in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, the eight day series provided emerging fashion designers with insights on circular design strategies.

Hong Kong Sustainable Fashion Workshop

Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) co-hosted our first Sustainable Fashion Workshop of the week featuring great in-depth discussions with the students about core sustainable design strategies and how we can implement them to keep garments in the circular loop. Plus, we got to hear from guest speakers Walden Lam at Unspun and Redress Design Award Alumna Meiyan Chan on the latest in circular fashion.

Online Sustainable Fashion Workshop

Open to emerging designers and sustainable fashion enthusiasts across Asia Pacific, our Online Sustainable Fashion Workshop explored what it means to adopt a circular model in fashion. Redress Education Director, Morgane Parizot, shared in-depth knowledge on the four core sustainable design strategies and Redress Design Award 2021 Runner-up Jin Pei-Wen provided insight on how the competition has positively impacted her career.

Online Sustainable Fashion Talk

This one-hour free session included a fun ‘pub quiz’-style presentation that revealed valuable insights on circular practices in the fashion industry, and provided the opportunity to hear from industry expert Walden Lam of Unspun and Redress Design Award 2021 Runner-up, Jin Pei-Wen.

Mainland China Sustainable Fashion Talk

Redress Education Manager, Pam Poon, led the Mainland China Sustainable Fashion Talk sharing in-depth knowledge on circular fashion design strategies and theories with an audience of over 4,100 attendees. Redress Design Award Alumnus Lowe Tong also joined to share about specific sustainable design techniques he uses in his current work.

Redress Design Award 2021 First Prize Winner Jessica Chang took over our Instagram @getredressed for a day and showed us highlights of the design process for her winning Redress Design Award collection. We also got to see what she’s been up to since winning last year.

Our knowledgeable Redress Education Team members, Morgane Parizot and Pam Poon, hosted informative Q&A sessions in English, Cantonese and Mandarin for designers and students who were thirsty for more knowledge in circular fashion and the Redress Design Award competition.
